(REUTERS / Suhaib Salem)Gaza City, Palestinian Territories (AFP) - Israeli warplanes attacked targets in the southern Gaza Strip, witnesses said Saturday morning, a few hours after a rocket from the Palestinian enclave hit the Jewish state.
A health ministry spokesman in Gaza said there were no casualties in the attack, the first air raid by Israel in the Palestinian territories since the armistice that ended August 50-day war between the two sides deadly.
Reports from previous Jerusalem, said a rocket fired from Gaza hit southern Israel on Friday, Israeli police said, adding that the rockets fell in open ground without causing casualties or damage.
This is the third rocket attack since the end of August after a 50-day Gaza war. The latest incident was on 31 October.
Hamas and Israel agreed to a ceasefire on August 26, brokered by Egypt, ending the 50-day war that resulted in the death of 2,140 Palestinians and 73 Israelis, most of them from the army.
