Erdogan Congratulates the Elected President of Tunisia

MADHON NEWS, ISTANBUL -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan contact elected President of Tunisia Beji Caid Essebsi to congratulate him on his victory in the latest elections.

Erdogan told President Beji Caid Essebsi that the consolidation of democracy in Tunisia would be an example of countries across the region.

Beji Caid Essebsi is a political veteran elected president of Tunisia, a country that had powered after overthrowing dictator who has ruled for 73 years, Ben Ali in 2011.

The election results are a reflection Tunisia Tunisians yearning to return to a stable state.

After entering a period of transition to democracy for four years, violence and economic crisis, youth revolution has changed the symbols of the old regime.

Essebsi won 55.68 percent of the vote in accordance with the results of Monday (22/12) and campaigned to restore the prestige of the state, to restore the legacy founder of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba, who built the country and educated but allow for a little opposition.

President-elect beat Essebsi Moncef Marzouki, a human rights activist who became interim president after the revolution.

Marzouki get 44.32 percent of the vote, based on a quick count poll also has predicted similar results immediately after the voting ends on Sunday (21/12) night.
