Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry of Malaysia Urges Malays Boycott China Business People

MADHON NEWS, KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA FEDERASIEN FELLOWSHIP - A Malaysian minister has urged citizens to boycott businesses Malay Chinese citizens for the sake of forcing them to lower the price of the goods in accordance with the decline in oil prices, The Malaysian Insider reported on Monday (02/02/2015)
Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a Facebook post Malay consumers have a role in helping the government to combat profiteers to use their collective power to bring down the price of goods.
"Forgive me for sharing my views, but in addition to the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism, who use Price Control Act and Anti-Profiteering Act to manindak against traders who raise their prices indiscriminately, the greatest strength lies in consumers.
"The majority of consumers of the Malays, the Chinese minority, if the Malay boycott their businesses, they certainly would have no choice but to lower their prices," he said in a Facebook post.
Ismail, who is a former minister of commerce and consumerism in the country, confirmed to The Malaysian Insider that the statement was made by him on his Facebook account.
Posts that have shared many times by other Facebook users and some also congratulated him for "bold" in a statement.
He also pointed to the chain of Old Town White Coffee belongs OldTown Bhd, said Perak DAP chairman Datuk Khoo Ham ngeh who have a stake in the company.
"The Malays still refused to boycott (Old Town White Coffee) what more when the owner said ngeh Perak DAP family known anti-Islamic.
"As long as the Malays do not change, the Chinese people will take the opportunity to oppress the Malay," said Ismail.
Ismail told The Malaysian Insider that the remarks were directed at the Chinese business people who said "reluctant" to lower their prices.
"I am referring to the Chinese traders were reluctant to reduce the price of the goods even though gasoline prices have dropped.
"What I want to emphasize is for people to not only rely on the government to ensure that the price of goods down because as consumers, they can use their power to suppress the business," he said.
In postinganya, Ismail menganngap Malay consumers continue berlanggangn outlets China "despite their halal certification suspect," and although some of these outlets have taken action against them.
"Imagine, many Chinese restaurants that do not have the logo 'halal' and they have been raided several times and arrested for their kosher certification is suspect, (but) the Malays continue to infest this restaurant, when there are thousands of restaurants Malays who really 'halal' , "he said.
He then quoted the Old Town White Coffee as an example and claim that it belongs to the family ngeh that he is "anti-Islam".
Besides Ismail, another minister who has insisted that the trader must unload because oil prices have dropped is Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan and Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Datuk Seri Haslan new Malek, but Ishmael was the first to ask a boycott Malays against the Chinese business community.
